I’m sure you’ve all heard of people able to communicate in 5, 10 or even 20 languages!!! These are the so-called “polyglots”. But who are these people and what kind of sorcery do they use that makes them remember all these words and grammar rules?
As a kid I was always amazed – or even ‘charmed’- by these peoples’ skills. Back in the 90’s, polyglots were really rare to find, so the media treated them as ‘prodigies’, something unreachable.
It was not long after I started taking English classes, that I discovered how fascinating the process of learning a new language is! Soon I decided that two languages aren’t enough for my hungry brain, which craved for more…. And that’s where my multilingual journey began!
Well, I may not speak 20 languages (yet) but so far I can communicate in 6 languages (Greek, English, Polish, Spanish, French and Latin). In the next steps, you’ll find out how did I get here and how you can get there too!
It’s never too late to take up a new language! No matter whether you’re 5 or 82, this is something you can do!
Many studies have shown that the more organized you are, the more efficiently you learn! Nobody learned to speak a new language overnight. You need to be patient and set daily goals, such as “Monday verb to be”, “Tuesday verb to have got”. Don’t rush things, because soon you’ll get mentally exhausted and eventually you’ll give up.
Nobody said that learning a new language is easy. Everything comes with a cost. There will be times that you’ll feel like losing your interest or that you’re not good enough. That’s not true! You’re doing great so far, keep it up! There are more secrets waiting to be unravelled!
Always go for languages that truly fascinate you, so that you’ll not lose your interest. If you like Estonian or Icelandic, don’t replace them with German or Italian just because they’re more commercial languages or just because somebody else made you.
Most of the modern languages originate from older ones. For example Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French originate from Latin. If you spend some of your time learning basic Latin, you’ll discover how easy and fast it will be for you to learn any of the languages mentioned above, because of the vocabulary and grammar similarities they share!
There are lots of language schools out there, but not all of them are qualified enough in order to teach you a language efficiently! Good Evening is the best place for everyone who’s willing to explore and fulfill their linguistic needs! You haven’t checked us yet? What are you waiting for?
